Estimate a realistic mix budget

A stereo mix is more than an hour at the faders: editing, balance, and feedback rounds add up. This guide helps you budget Stereo mixing at Fractaltrail in Amsterdam using our fixed rates and revision rules.

Desk with laptop, track list papers and pen for mix planning.

Baseline: per-track price

Our base rate for Stereo mixing is €295 per track including 21% VAT. That covers balance, EQ, dynamics, effect sends, and a stereo export ready for mastering. Ex-VAT that is €243.80.

One song with forty stems takes longer than one with twelve. Send a track list before quoting and mark optional stems. That avoids surprises after you get in touch.

Include BPM, key, and target deadline in the same message so we can estimate whether you can expect feedback within one business day.

What the track fee includes — and excludes

Included: session organisation, basic edits (clicks, obvious fades), and 2 revision rounds per terms. Not included: note-by-note tuning, drum replacement, or full re-arrangement — book those separately or by the hour.

If you export from a home setup in Amsterdam, deliver consistently labelled WAV files (24 bit, project sample rate). We mix at Overtoom; attending in person is optional but useful for the first listen.

Revisions and hourly rate

After included rounds, extra work is €88 per hour (revision). Batch comments in one e-mail with timestamps instead of scattered messages over several days.

Example: only vocal level in chorus two — often fits one revision round. Replacing all drums — expect multiple hours. For capture quality context see prepare your session.

Multiple tracks and EPs

Three singles usually mean three times €295 unless we agree a project fee. Keep style coherent by sharing one reference EP and noting vocal treatment per song (“dry”, “wider chorus”).

Master separately via Mastering — €125 per track or €420 for up to six tracks. Mix and master are different stages; budget both before release.

Stems, instrumentals, and alternates

Need stems for sync or live playback? Mention it in the quote. Extra exports take time but are plannable. Instrumental, TV mix, or a cappella often fit a revision round if it is mainly muting.

We archive project files for 24 months. Reopening after that may bill extra hours. Download mixes and backups yourself as well.

Scheduling and turnaround

Mixing usually completes within a few business days after stems arrive, depending on the calendar. Peak season around festivals in Amsterdam — book early via Stereo mixing.

Business clients: 14-day payment terms after invoice may apply once details are verified. Consumers typically pay around delivery. Long projects may require a 30% deposit in the quote.

Studio hours are Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–22:00; closed Mondays (pick-up by appointment).; we align delivery calls with that window so you can listen on proper monitors when feedback is due.

Compare with mixing yourself

Mixing at home saves cash but costs time and room acoustics. In our studio you hear the track on calibrated monitors in a treated space — relevant if you target streaming and vinyl.

Unsure? Send a rough mix. We will say honestly whether polish is enough or a full mix makes sense. No obligation to book.

Our mix engineers work on projects from Amsterdam-West and beyond daily; they spot typical export issues from Logic, Ableton, and Pro Tools and fix them without extra hours when stems are labelled clearly.
